Ways to
serve Halloumi
What
is unique about halloumi cheese is the fact that due to the method of
manufacturing, it is probably the only cheese in the world that does not
melt when cooked (heated). Therefore it became the basis of numerous
successful recipes for various dishes. There are 3 most popular ways to
serve the cheese.
Grill It!
Halloumi cheese is sliced
widthwise to about one inch thick and grilled about 2 minutes in each side
on charcoal or grill to a golden brown color, and then served hot as it is
or in pitta bread with a slice of tomato.
Fry it!
Again, about an inch thick slice of
halloumi cheese is
fried for about, 1 minute on each side to a golden yellow color and then
served hot.
Serve it fresh!
The traditional combination of
halloumi cheese and chilled watermelon, has been enjoyed in Cyprus for
centuries.
